Africa Strike Lodge - Toubacouta Fatik Senegal
AFRICA STRIKE LODGE
Africa Strike Lodge is located on the edge of the Saloum natural park, an immense gulf made up of arms of the sea, endless ocean beaches, islands and mangroves, and reef sandbanks. Lush vegetation, birds of a thousand species, monkeys and a sea teeming with fish make this park a marvellous natural oasis.
The Lodge is an old colonial villa, intimate and charming, set between the sea and the vegetation. It has six rooms with air conditioning, private bathroom and a terrace with direct access to the swimming pool, for the exclusive use of the Lodge’s guests. Everything is surrounded by the original portico, and two wide verandas face the African sunset over the gulf, where you can dine and relax over an aperitif among the stories of the day’s fishing. The jetty a few steps from the villa, the private swimming pool, the excellent cuisine and the friendly atmosphere are further highlights of our fishing centre. Internet access is available to the guests of Africa Strike, either from the Lodge computer or with their own, both by WIFI and with the classic network cable. Those who do not fish can spend their days on the deserted beaches (reachable only by boat), by the pool, or organise guided trips to the surrounding villages and markets, to the Saloum natural park or to the nearby safari park in the Fathala reserve.
THE AFRICA STRIKE STAFF
The Staff of Africa Strike Lodge is made up of the manager, the cooks, the guards, the housekeepers and, of course, the fishing guides. The latter are by far the most experienced and qualified in the area; they have always fished in this immense delta and know all its secrets. The kitchen is always very busy: from early morning, packed lunches are prepared for the boat trips. Breakfast consists of fresh bread and brioche (just baked in the village, still warm!), jams, butter, coffee, milk coffee, tea and orange juice. When you come back from a day’s fishing, glasses of bissap, a cool and refreshing Senegalese drink, are always ready, but the best comes in the evening! Our two cooks excel at preparing the freshly caught fish and many other typical Senegalese dishes, such as yassa (chicken or fish marinated in onions with tasty vegetables), ceebu jën (fish served with steamed rice and mixed vegetables, then dressed with a special sauce), mafé (pieces of beef or mutton with peanut sauce, potatoes and carrots), and for those who do not like the typical local cuisine, the Lodge also offers classic European dishes. Every room of the Lodge is cleaned daily, and both at night and during the fishing trips the Lodge is constantly guarded, although the village of Toubacouta, like all of Senegal for that matter, is very peaceful and there are no safety problems.
